Product description
This second volume of the commentary on the Psalter contains Psalms 42 to 72, which is the 2nd book of the Psalter, which has long been called "the Pentateuch of David" based on the five books of Moses.
Like Exodus, the main theme of this Second Book of Psalms is salvation. Like that, it begins with the groaning of the elect under the oppression of the wicked (Exodus 1 and 2; Psalm 42 and 43) and ends with the appearance of the glory of God (Exodus 40:34-38; Psalm 72:18, 19). . In Exodus 40 the glory fills only the dwelling place of God, in Psalm 72 it fills all creation. For in the meantime salvation has gone out to all nations and the Messiah of Israel has taken up his worldwide government.
In addition to the introduction and structure of each psalm, the author also tries to show how the individual psalms are connected to each other in their sequence and, for those interested in the Hebrew language, he offers explanations of striking verb forms and sentence constructions for each psalm. In doing so, he wants to help the reader gain a deeper understanding of the basic text.
